Project Introduction

Subclass 186 Employer Nomination Scheme visa is a permanent residency visa that allows Australian businesses to nominate skilled workers from overseas to work and settle in Australia.

Applicants can obtain nomination from an Australian employer based on their professional skills and extensive work experience. There is no requirement to meet the EOI points test. Applicants under 45 years of age, with at least 3 years of full-time work experience in a relevant nominated occupation, and an eligible employer willing to sponsor them, can submit an application.

Three Application Pathways

Direct Entry Stream: Suitable for applicants who have not worked long-term in Australia or hold a temporary visa but do not meet the criteria for transitioning from temporary residence to permanent residence.
Temporary Residence Transition Stream: Suitable for applicants who currently hold a 457 or 482 visa and have worked full-time for the same employer for at least three years.
Labour Agreement Stream: Suitable for applicants whose employer has entered into a labour agreement with the Australian government

Application requirements(Direct Entry Stream)

Under 45 years old (with exemptions for certain occupations)
Obtain a nomination from a recognized Australian employer
Hold a valid skills assessment for the nominated occupation
Have at least 3 years of full-time work experience related to the nominated position
Achieve an IELTS score of at least 6 in each band or an equivalent English proficiency test
Pass a medical examination
No criminal records

Application requirements(Temporary Residence Transition Stream)

Under 45 years old (with exemptions for certain occupations)
Obtain a nomination from a recognized Australian employer
Applicants must have held a SID visa for at least 2 years and worked for their employer for 2 years within the 3 years prior to submitting the 186 nomination.
Achieve an IELTS score of at least 6 in each band or an equivalent English test score.
Pass a medical examination
No criminal records

Application requirements(Labour Agreement Stream)

Age Requirement Under the Labour Agreement
Be nominated by an approved Australian employer under a recognized Labour Agreement.
If applying within Australia, the applicant must hold a SID Labour Agreement Visa.
The applicant must have at least 2 years of relevant full-time work experience (some roles may be exempt).
Achieve an IELTS score of 6 in each band or an equivalent English language test.
Pass a medical examination
No criminal records
